DESCRIPTION: This Kinyarwanda-language version case was written about an alumnus of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Initiative, which aims to bring high-quality business and management education to 10,000 underserved women around the world. It was written to be used for a cohort of the same program. See English version if needed. This case describes Anastasie Nyirabukeye’s timber and woodwork business and chronicles her journey in receiving a series of small loans, and then deciding to apply for a large loan to expand her business. Using real financial statements and facts, this case teaches students key concepts related to applying for and receiving loans, including thinking through how big of a loan to apply for, what collateral and credit history they need, how to calculate interest and create a repayment schedule, and how to overcome obstacles.
